Howdenshire Island The only landlocked island in the World

Every Friday at the market place and inside the Shire Hall a (small) band of hardy traders meet to offer a wide range of goods to the residents of Howdenshire and any others that happen along.

We would love the market to grow and prosper but at the moment we are on a tightrope wavering between the love of being part of the market and the sorrow of seeing fewer customers than is necessary to keep us going.

It is a place to meet and chat as well as buy.

Howdenshire Forward have recognised the importance of tourism and visitor spending for the future economy of Howden and Howdenshire and are bringing local businesses and community groups together to produce an action plan for how the area can develop its tourism opportunities.
