Every Friday a few hardy stall holders turn out in all weathers to provide a range of goods to the population of Howden and visitors alike.
Typically cakes, eggs, fresh fish, garden plants, tools, housewares and bric-a-brac are available. Our own stall sells handmade soap and jewellery and picture such as the one shown.
It is becoming more and more important to have locally produced and crafted items available to reduce the need for unnecessary travel. We have even managed to source water for our soap making from a certified spring within 15 miles of Howden.
One of the main aims of Howdenshire Forward is to build on the towns strengths to attract local digital-related businesses to the town, in order to strengthen the local economy and create more local jobs.
In order to work towards this aim, we are doing studies into the possibility of setting up a workspace for start-up businesses, specialised to suit digital business.
